What is involved in procedures for the forehead, frown lines and crows feet?

This procedure involves a series of tiny injections into the facial muscles where lines and wrinkles are formed, creating a smoother, more rejuvenated facial appearance. Wrinkles and lines are generally smoothed out and new lines are prevented from forming. Our aim is to soften the areas.

How long does it take... do I need further treatment?

Appointments vary in time depending on what you areas are being treated. Muscle Relaxants generally take 2-3 days to begin affect, & up to 7-10 days to see full affect. Your facial expressions will return gradually, with product lasting from 3-4 months. To maintain the effect you will require repeat treatments as it is only temporary.

What treatment is best for naso labial lines and marionette lines?

dermal filler is used to treat the more deeper, facial lines as it specifically adds volume and collagen, producing a longer lasting effect. Fillers are often used in combination with muscle relaxants to obtain best results.

How long does it take to have Fillers, and how long does it last?

Very minimal time. If you are having one area treated usually- 15mins. If you are having several areas treated you will require a longer consultation-1hour. This is assessed on an individual basis.  Thinner fillers generally last from 9 to 12 mths, with most clients returning when they feel loss of volume again. The thicker form of fillers, for example cheek enhancement, can last up to 18 mths -2yrs.  However -how long it lasts is different for all. This is dependent on your age, muscle activity, skin tone and metabolism.

How much filler is required for lip enhancements? I worry because some people look like they have too much.

More and more young women are choosing to add a little volume to their lips. Our philosophy here at RCM is a conservative approach. Less is best, you can always add more at your two-week review if required.

I’m afraid of pain — do the procedures hurt?

The injections for muscle relaxants are very tiny. The use of ice, anaesthetic gels and more commonly the insertion of canulae rather than needle is also used. Every effort is made to alleviate discomfort.

What if I decide against further treatment?

Anti wrinkle injectables are temporary procedures; your skin will return to its original state if you decide against further treatments

Are there any side effects?

Side effects are generally temporary and specific to the area of the injection. You may experience some swelling, bruising and redness. The majority of people are able to resume normal activities following these procedures. Your cosmetic practitioner will discuss side affects during your assessment.

What do I need to know about the injectable treatment for Double Chin?

This is a revolutionary non-surgical injectable treatment, which permanently destroys fat cells, beneath the chin.

What does the procedure involve?

You will require a consultation initially to determine if you meet the recommended criteria. The procedure involves marking the treatment area with a special grid to guide the practitioner’s insertion points. Small injections with a tiny needle are then made into the grid and fatty tissue under the chin. The procedure takes approximately 10-15 minutes.

Is this treatment painful?

Local Anaesthetic is applied before the treatment.  After the injections the area can feel warm and prickly (similar to sunburn).  Simple pain relief ie (panadol) is advised after the treatment. This is a temporary side effect which settles quickly.

How many treatments are required?

Dose will be dependent on your anatomy and assessment of fullness of your double chin. The minimum required for noticeable results is 2 treatment sessions (ie two vials at each session) with recommendation of 4-6 weeks apart. You may require more/ or less vials each session. This will depend if you are assessed as having mild moderate or severe fullness. Average dose is 2-3 vials.

Who should not receive this treatment?

You cannot have this treatment if you have an infection in the treatment area, or if you are pregnant or breastfeeding. You also need to tell your practitioner if you have had surgery to the face/jaw/chin, recent cosmetic injectables, bleeding problems or taking blood thinning medications (eg aspirin, warfarin).

Are there any side effects?

Side effects may include pain, discomfort, bruising, swelling and redness. Temporary numbness and areas of firmness at the injection site are common. Swelling is a normal process which indicates, the fat dissolving treatment is working!  Your practitioner will carefully mark out your safety zones prior to your treatment.  Side affects will be discussed at consultation.
